Stress Management Meditation
Stress affects many areas of life, from health to performance. Can Meditation help you take control of your mind?
Stress is one of the most commonly used words to describe a feeling we are having.
“I’m stressed”
“I’m too stressed to think”
“I can’t focus, I’m just too stressed.”
And worryingly, people sometimes use words that their unconscious should never hear such as …
“I’m so stressed I could die” or “This stress is going to kill me”.
Stop That Right Now!
What many people do not know, is they aren’t just talking to themselves, they are talking to their deep mind and doing so with powerfully influential hypnotic commands!
Your unconscious does not distinguish between what’s real and what’s imagined.
When you think negative thoughts, you activate the cascade of stress response hormones and harmful chemicals.
These are useful only when ‘stress’ or the need to create more urgency, physical strength or motivation is met with equal actions.
Otherwise stress is causing a lot of life limiting issues.
Stress Effects On The Body
Some of the more common side effects of stress are as follows:
headaches
tiredness
reduced sex drive
digestive problems
disrupted sleep
What few people realise is just how serious chronic stress can be on the body and longevity.
A study done by Yale reveals the mechanisms of stress in reducing our lifespan.
Prolonged stress, for instance, increases the risk of heart disease, addiction, mood disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder, said Sinha, who is also director of the Yale Interdisciplinary Stress Center. It can influence metabolism, accelerating obesity-related disorders such as diabetes. Stress also saps our ability to regulate emotions and to think clearly.
Increased risk of disease are due to the interference with the normal function of the immune system. The immune system is literally switched off when we go into prolonged states of stress.
Effect of stress on behaviour
There are many ways that chronic stress affects our behaviour, which in turn affects our relationships with loved ones, co-workers and others.
If you are stressed and you set off for work, someone cuts you off - a calm version of you will be able to see their mistake and acknowledge that you’ve made similar. And therefore let it go.
The stressed out version of you, will find this a trigger to explode! Your adrenaline and cortisol levels will rise, flood your body with unhelpful (harmful) chemicals and the rage can cause dangerous interferences to your ability to ‘think’ and ‘act’ rationally. These reactions can lead to accidents and more.
I was 17 years old when I first witnessed two grown men rolling around on the floor of a roundabout in a busy part of London at 8.30am!
Many of the main causes for my clients to get in touch, were the effects of stress including:
Anger. Angry at themselves, at others, aggressive towards people they love.
Anxiety. Many suffered with anxiety that interfered with all areas of life.
Panic Attacks. Something I was relieved never to experience once I began my training.
Insomnia. Many of my clients would suffer sleeplessness or interrupted sleep.
Addictions. Stress can lead to addictive behaviours as we naturally seek to escape the negative states.
It doesn’t have to be that way … you can be more ‘cat’.
Preventing the effects of stress …
There’s a lot you can do to combat stress. To take control of YOUR MIND so it doesn’t control you.
Examples of simple habits that can lead to life changing health and wellness include:
Regularly inducing trance state via Meditation, Hypnosis, Mindfulness
Journaling but there are ways to enhance even that
Yoga & physical exercise
Becoming compassionate of self & others
A study exploring the effect of Meditation on stress showed very positive results from just 20 minutes a day.
Hypnosis also involves focusing attention, but it includes mental imagery, relaxation, and suggestions for symptom reduction.
You can take back control of your mind, choose to reduce stress and the effects of stress on your life, health, behaviours and motivations starting now!
